Nietzsche Morality Essay - 1389 Words
Morality Essay Have you ever asked yourself where your conscience comes from? The feeling that takes a hold of you when you do what you feel is wrong. This feeling is almost like a consequence when you tell a lie or commit a crime. Your conscience helps you sort out the good and bad and feels your mind with sorrow when you see a sad story on the news or gives you the initiative to donate money to a contribution. But where does it come from. Is it something you are naturally born with, taught over time or given to you by a higher power? This argument leads to the existence of moral values by many philosophers including William Lane Craig. One of his excerpts argues that if there is an existence of moral values, which some people agree,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦With this said, Nietzsche would not agree with Craig. His idea on perspectivism also shows that he would not agree. One idea is the real verse the apparent world, which he states that language and grammar tricks us to imagine there is a n essence for what makes up the things we see. For example the idea that lightening flashes is false because in reality the lightening is the flash. He would use this in his argument towards the existence of moral values and God because not everyone sees things the same way. Nietzsches examples show that he does not believe in moral values and does not believe in God. Craig argues back with Nietzsches idea that proclaimed that the death of God meant the destruction of all meaning and value in life. In Williams excerpt he says that Nietzsche is right but weve got to be careful because the question is not must we believe in God in order to live a moral life? Craig doesnt believe that we do. Nor is the question: Can we recognize objective moral values without believing in God? Because he does believe that you can recognize them. Rather, the question is: If God does not exist, do objective morals exist? Craig proves that they do by explaining that actions such as rape, torture, and chil d abuse arent just socially acceptable behavior. And that they are moral abominations and that there are some things that are really wrong and everyone knows it. Craig also says in his excerpt that evenShow MoreRelatedNietzsche on Slave Morality Essay727 Words à |à 3 Pagesââ¬Å"Nietzsche on Judeo-Christian Moralityâ⬠In Nietzscheââ¬â¢s aphorisms 90-95 and 146-162 he attacks what he believes to be the fundamental basis of the ââ¬Å"slaveâ⬠morality prevalent in the Judeo-Christian tradition as well as other religions and societies. Evaluating the Sole Proprietor
Question: Discuss about the Evaluating the Sole Proprietor. Answer: Evaluating the Sole Proprietor The first time I came to Melbourne, the Sole Proprietor, I was determined and open minded to find out whether it has been a threat to XYZ restaurant or not. My objective was to evaluate and compare their services to those of XYZ and know whether the restaurant was a competitor or not because since it was opened, XYZ restaurant has dropped off business wise. My first time to be in this new restaurant, I noted that the place was good and a nice place to hang out especially with friends. The environment was cool and quiet: it was a place where everyone would love to visit and have some meal. It is true to say that the prices of the new restaurant were quite high compared to those of XYZ. When I ordered fish fillet, I realized that it was twice the price of XYZ restaurant. After discovering that the price of the fish fillet was higher than in XYZ restaurant, I was curious to know the prices of other foods. I went through the menu and discovered that the trend was the same. It is true tha t most foods in the new restaurant were expensive compared to those in XYZ restaurant (XYZ Restaurant, 2017). Even though the place was beautiful, the prices were not friendly to me considering that my salary is not that good. According to me, the food was not affordable to a common person, for example, students or people with low income. Since I was doing some research, I had to visit the new restaurant for the second time, this time I went with a friend to make sure that my findings were true and she could notice what I was observing in the restaurant. I have to admit that the workers in the restaurant responded in time and they were very welcoming. When we were at the gate of the restaurant, there was someone at the gate to direct us where we wanted to go since the restaurant was big and there were different sections for different activities. The waiter did not take the time to attend to us, and she was quick to offer us the menu so that we could decide on what we wanted to take. Comparing this to XYZ restaurant, I would say waiters take the time to respond to customers who come to the restaurant. Other than taking time, they are not welcoming or friendly to customers unless when the manager is around. The new restaurant had active workers, and they were there to explain what type of meals they offered in case some one did not understand the menu. After the waiter had come, my friend and I decided to take fish and French fries for dinner because it was on a Friday. I was keen to see how long the meal would take in the kitchen before it was served to us. The waiter was clear that the meal was not ready, but they would prepare it very fast for us. I asked her to be specific with time it would be ready and she said it was for around 30 minutes; therefore we had to wait and see whether it was true. I was surprised to find that the meal was ready by the time 30 minutes were over. Employees were active to ensure that everyone in the restaurant was comfortable. After the food was brought, everything was on point, and the food was yummy and delicious (The Sole Proprietor, 2017). I was also impressed with the kind of communication that exists between workers and the manager. When there was a problem in the restaurant, employees like the waiters were quick to inform the manager (Spaho, 2013). For example, one of the couples who was seated next to my table complained that the waiter had taken long to respond to them after they had ordered their meal and the manager come to apologize to them. I can say that the new restaurant values money and they understand that every coin counts in business. The manager was not rude to the waiter. Instead, he asked her to apologize to the customer. Employees in the new restaurant seem to be experienced, and they understand what they are doing in their work. In conclusion, it is right to conclude that the new restaurant is a threat to XYZ restaurant. The type of food they sell is delicious and yummy making everyone feel the need of coming back the next time. Although the restaurant was busy on the day that we went with my friend, we were served at the right time. References Spaho, K. Sek Lung is a Marginal Character free essay sample
Generally, it is hard for a person, who is stuck inside the third space, to deal with the relationships from two different cultures, and the result of such a situation is that this person would be marginalized as an outsider by his or her group. In the novel The Jade Peony, Sek-Lung is depicted as a character who feels that it is hard to blend inside himself either Chinese or Canadian culture, and his closest relationship with Poh-Poh also makes him marginalized by other family members. Thus, Sek-Lung is considered as an outsider from both China town and Canadian society and even in his own family. As a Chinese child who was born in Canada, Sek-Lung is living in an immigrant family, and he gets attracted by the local culture so that makes him drop into the third space and become an outsider of Canadian society. The first reason leading to this matter is mostly due to the fact that he is Chinese. We will write a custom essay sample on Sek Lung is a Marginal Character or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This is the truth that never can be changed. No matter how much he wants to be Canadian, he is still a Chinese. The third part of the book also mentions that Sekky knows this fact ââ¬Å"[B]ut even if I was born in Vancouver, even if I should salute the Union Jack a hundred million times, even if I had the cleanest hands in all the Dominion of Canada and pray forever, I would still be Chineseâ⬠(Choy 152). What Sek-Lung said shows that he knows he is an outsider of Canadian society and that he could never be a real Canadian. Sek-Lungââ¬â¢s bad health condition is another reason why he is an outsider of Canadian society. In the novel, Sek-Lung is the character that was born with serious a breathing problem so that he could not go to school like his brothers or sister, and he has to stay at home. ââ¬Å"[B]ut the school doctor rejected my attempt to get back into the classroom. [â⬠¦] ââ¬ËSek-Lung still has breathing problems,ââ¬â¢ he told Kiam to explain to Father. ââ¬ËI recommend he stay with his home studies and try again next yearâ⬠(Choy 173). He really wants to go to school and study English to become more familiar with Canada culture. However, due to the lung disease, the opportunities to absorb the Canadian society and to make Canadian friends are being missed and that makes him further away from the Canadian society. In addition, when Sek-Lung stays at home, the traditional Chinese culture is instilled into his mind by Poh-Poh so that he cannot blend in with Canadian society. He believes all of Poh-Pohââ¬â¢s words, especially her superstitious beliefs. When Sek-Lungââ¬â¢s condition is getting better and he goes to school in September, he still thinks it is because of Poh-Poh although she is already dead. Sek-Lung thinks that ââ¬Å"Grandmama had kept her promiseâ⬠(Choy 197). He is influenced by Poh-Pohââ¬â¢s traditional Chinese mentality and it is totally different from the Canadian culture and foreign to Canadian society. He cannot tell Canadian people about the superstitious belief because no one would listen to him and no one would believe it. Consequently, Sek-Lung is an outsider of Canadian society, not only because he is Chinese, but also because he is denied the chance to touch the Canadian society by his illness and is influenced deeply by Poh-Pohââ¬â¢s traditional Chinese culture. On the other hand, Sek-Lung is also an outsider of the Chinese group. He was born in Canada and the different environment in which he grows up makes him different from other Chinese people so that he cannot be a fully Chinese person like others. First of all, he knows very little about Chinese. For example, he feels a headache about family ranking and Chinese kinship terms which are contained in the Chinese culture and he uses wrong titles for other family members. He mentions in the third part of the book that ââ¬Å"I would say ââ¬ËThird Uncleââ¬â¢ instead of ââ¬ËGreat Uncleââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (Choy 145). Stepmother and Poh-Poh both think that Sek-Lung being confused about the way to call people is brainless. That is how Chinese people think about him and that makes Sek-Lung feel a sense of loss because he is poor in Chinese so that he cannot fully understand Chinese values. In the second place, Sek-Lung is worshipping everything foreign. That is entirely different from learning foreign culture. In the book, Sek-Lung wants to be a Canadian rather than Chinese and he wants to have an appearance like white people. ââ¬Å"I sometimes wished that my skin would turn white, my hair go brown, my eyes widen and turn blue, and Mr. and Mrs. Oââ¬â¢Connor next door would adopt me and I would be Jack Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s little brotherâ⬠(Choy 151). This kind of idea makes Sek-Lung feels marginalized in the Chinese group due to the conflict of his appearance and his wish that pushes him to be an outsider to the Chinese. Whatââ¬â¢s more, Suk-Lung does not like the Chinese language. For instance, he has the strongest reaction to Chinese language of all the characters in the book and that makes him be outside the Chinese group. He thinks that Chinese is harder than English. He says ââ¬Å"English words seemed more forthright to me, blunt like road signs. Chinese words were awkward and messy, like quicksandâ⬠(Choy 150). That means he likes English much more than Chinese. Thus, it can be seen that Sek-Lung has strong western ideas which are contrary to the Chinese culture although he was born in a Chinese family. To sum up, living in a Chinese group, Sek-Lung does not have the same Chinese opinions like others. He doesnââ¬â¢t know a lot about the Chinese culture, he wants to look like a foreigner and he even does not like the Chinese language. Those things make him grow farther and farther away from the Chinese group. Moreover, Sek-Lung has been marginalized in the family due to his close relationship with his grandmother. As the book mentions, Poh-Poh is the most powerful person in the family who occupies the highest status and she prefers Suk-Lung above all other kids. For starters, because of his good relationship with Poh-Poh Suk-Lung attracts much jealousy from his family members especially from Jook Liang. For example, in Jook-Liangââ¬â¢s part, she said ââ¬Å"For years, I had been nagged to remember to wash diapers and generally clean up after my baby brother, who was now three years old and sickly. I was tired of his always leaking at both ends. [â⬠¦]Baby brother was sick again. Always sick. Always getting all the attention [â⬠¦]â⬠(Choy 27). Compared with the way Jook Liang is treated by Poh-Poh: washing diapers of little brother, always being told that she is useless, never being taught but expected to work. The ways Liang and Sekky were treated by Poh-Poh are unequal and that is why Sek-Lung has been jealous and marginalized by Liang. Furthermore, Sek-Lung follows Poh-Poh, and does abnormal thing which makes the whole family ashamed of them. In order to make wind chimes they search the garbage so as to find materials with the result that other family members feel ashamed. Second brother Jung Sum said ââ¬Å"All of our friends are laughing at us! They also make the first son Kiam feel unhappy and said they are beggars. The whole family is ashamed of them and Sek-Lung being ashamed of following Poh-Poh so that makes him be marginalized by other family members and become an outsider in the family. Finally, Sek-Lung becomes marginalized by the family because he has shown his belief in superstition by Poh-Poh. After Poh-Pohââ¬â¢s death, Sek-Lung says that he can always see Poh-Pohââ¬â¢s ghost in the house, so that makes other family member feel weird because only he can see the ghost in the house but they cannot, so they dont believe him and think he is abnormal as well. ââ¬Å"Sister Liang refused to take me out anywhere her jitterbugging girlfriend might see or hear meâ⬠(Choy 178). His behaviour is not accepted by his brothers and sister or even his parents. Although he lives with them together and they love him, his superstitious opinions of seeing Poh-Pohââ¬â¢s ghost still confused him to be marginalized by the whole family. All in all, Sek-Lung is an outsider like a marginal member in his family because he spends too much time with Poh-Poh so that makes him be treated better than other kids, does shameful things and is deeply influenced by Poh-Pohââ¬â¢s opinion. Sek-Lung is a person who wants to be a simple Canadian, a kid who knows very little about Chinese culture, a son who is affected by grandmotherââ¬â¢s old traditions and an outsider of society. He wants to be Canadian but he canââ¬â¢t; he is living in a traditional Chinese family but he knows nothing about their traditions. He has the best grandmother who loves him most in the world but he is marginalized by other family members because of his grandmother. To conclude, Sek-Lung is an outsider of society. He belongs neither to Canadian society nor Chinese group, and even is marginalized by his own family.

A Profile of the Blue Button Jelly
A Profile of the Blue Button Jelly Although it has the word jelly in its name, the blue button jelly (Porpita porpita) is not a jellyfishà or sea jelly. It is a hydroid, which is an animal in the class Hydrozoa. They are known as colonial animals, and sometimes just referred to as blue buttons. The blue button jelly is made up of individual zooids, each specialized for a different function such as eating, defense or reproduction. The blue button jelly is related to jellyfish, though. It is in the Phylum Cnidaria, which is the group of animals that also includes corals, jellyfish (sea jellies), sea anemones, and sea pens. Blue button jellies are relatively smallà and measure about 1 inch in diameter. They consist of a hard, golden brown, gas-filled float in the center, surrounded by blue, purple or yellow hydroids that look like tentacles. The tentacles have stinging cells called nematocysts. So in that respect, they can be like jellyfish species that sting. Blue Button Jelly Classification Heres the scientific classification nomenclature for a blue button jelly: Kingdom: AnimaliaPhylum: CnidariaClass: HydrozoaOrder: AnthoathecataFamily: PorpitidaeGenus: Porpitaspecies: porpita Habitat and Distribution Blue button jellies are found in warm waters off Europe, in the Gulf of Mexico, Mediterranean Sea, New Zealand, and southern U.S. These hydroids live on the ocean surface, are sometimes blown into shore, and sometimes seen by the thousands. Blue button jellies eat plankton and other small organisms; they are typically eaten by sea slugs and violet sea snails. Reproduction Blue buttons are hermaphrodites, which means that each blue button jelly has both male and female sex organs. They have reproductive polyps that release eggs and sperm into the water. The eggs are fertilized and turn into larvae, which then develop into individual polyps. Blue button jellies are actually colonies of different types of polyps; these colonies form when a polyp divides to form new types of polyps. The polyps are specialized for different functions, such as reproduction, feeding, and defense. Blue Button Jellies...Are They Hazardous to Humans? Its best to avoid these beautiful organisms if you see them. Blue button jellies do not have a lethal sting, but they can cause skin irritation when touched. Sources: Climate Watch. Mandela was a great speaker who wooed and ââ¬Ëwowedââ¬â¢ the crowd with his linguistic ability. While in prison, he convinced people to go on a hunger strike to coerce the authority to improve their living conditions. Gandhi was also a prolific speaker. He had a large collection of written works in different fields that are quoted, studied and admired all over the world. They also possessed Interpersonal intelligence. This is the ability to look at people outwardly and understand fears, motivations and intentions and then use that knowledge to influence people towards a desired goal. Google Health and the Future of Personal Health Records Case Study
Google Health and the Future of Personal Health Records - Case Study Example Even Microsoft or Apple failed to recognize the opportunity provided by PHRs. It should be noted that Google was waiting for a breakthrough product to capture or regain market dominance. It should be noted that Googleââ¬â¢s market share was considerably reduced in the recent past because of tight competition from prominent companies such as Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon etc. The offering of the cloud-based product Google Health in 2008 was received with high expectations. Many people though that Google at last succeeded in developing a breakthrough product to counter the challenges from competitors. Nobody can blame the consumer expectation of this product, especially because it could represent a truly consumer based PHR, given the characteristics of the company behind its design. Google was successful in incorporating all the ingredients needed for a PHR system to Google health. Googleââ¬â¢s market reputation was huge and nobody had any doubt about the capabilities of Goo gle. Moreover the health care reform initiative in America is getting momentum after to Obama came into power. In short, the opportunity for Google health was huge. Sometimes facts are stranger than fiction. In the case of Google Health, the above statement is absolutely true. On June 24th of 2011, Google Health crashed in its intent of positioning in the difficult PHR market, leaving behind many questions and some lessons for future entrants. This paper reviews and analyses the reasons why Google Health failed as a health information solution for consumer/patient healthcare information management and the future of PHRs. Archer (2011) mentioned that ââ¬Å"Electronic personal health record systems (PHRs) support patient cantered healthcare by making medical records and other relevant information accessible to patients, thus assisting patients in health self-managementâ⬠(Archer, 2011, p.515).
